Global Handwashing Day
Celebrating Global Handwashing Day at Gaurs International School: Pre-Primary Edition. Global Handwashing Day, dedicated to promoting the importance of hand hygiene, was celebrated with great enthusiasm at our school with active participation from the youngest learners of the Pre-Primary classes.
For the Pre-Nursery Gaurians, Global Handwashing Day marked their introduction to the significance of proper handwashing. The little ones engaged in fun and interactive activities that emphasized washing hands regularly, especially after play and before meals, learning that clean hands are essential for staying healthy and preventing the spread of diseases.
The Nursery Gaurians adopted a hands-on approach by learning and practicing the eight critical steps of effective handwashing. Guided by their learning facilitators and the school nurse, Ms Lovely Gandhi, they sang songs while scrubbing their hands, making the process enjoyable and helping them internalize the correct method.
Adding a creative twist, the Prep Gaurians conducted an engaging experiment using black pepper to represent germs. By washing their hands with soap and water, they witnessed how the “germs” were removed, visually demonstrating the importance and effectiveness of proper handwashing.
The celebration served as an important reminder that clean hands are crucial for well-being. It instilled a sense of responsibility towards personal hygiene and taught students that handwashing is not just a task, but a lifelong habit that protects health and ensures a healthier, happier future.
